Wayfering 010 :: Toronto

So a friend of mine was graduating from Waterloo soon so another friend and I decided to head up to Toronto to see her. It was basically a weekend of food, wandering about the city, and more food.

St. Lawrence Market

Wandering the city by foot and by tour bus

Toronto Music Garden
Toronto Waterfront
Dinner in the Distillery District
Tapas at El Catrin where I had the best white sangria I had probably ever.
Brunch at Insomnia
S'more ice cream for brunch.
The best desert I'd had possibly ever. Made the trip to Toronto so worth it.
Casa Loma
The view from Casa Loma Tower was breathtaking!
Stood in line for an hour for a one-per-person Japanese cheesecake at Uncle Tetsu. Worth the wait.
What's more Canadian than breakfast at Tim Horton's?
One of my favorite dining experiences to date is ordering in American Sign Language at Sign

After spending the weekend in the city, we soon realized that the city was very under-rated. Casa Loma is the only full-sized castle in North America, and the food scene in Toronto is amazing! The city is extraordinarily diverse, with a lot of French and German influence, and its own Chinatown (which puts the Boston Chinatown to shame, size-wise).

It was literally a weekend of one food destination to another. Saturday alone: 1) we had brunch with desert 2) ate gelato at Casa Loma 3) stopped at a Poutinery for some Canadian famous fries with gravy and cheese curds 4) went through Chinatown and got crepe cakes and pumpkin cake 5)  stood in line for an hour for a Japanese cheesecake, and 6) ended the day with dinner at O'Noir to dine in the dark. We were so full by the end of it, but we regretted nothing.

I'm hoping to go back again a later time, but for the Oktoberfest festivities in the Waterloo area. I'm not too into beer, but I hear this Oktoberfest is second only to the one in Munich, Germany. But that's a thought for another day and I'm excited for what's to come!
