Wayfering 008 :: Escape the Room Boston

Since a friend of mine was taking a small break from her studies in Canada to visit the area for a bit, we explored the local area a bit. And of course, there was food. We had gotten dim sum at Sun Kong Restaurant in Malden for lunch, but ate the food too quickly to take a picture hehehe :D

HARVARD SQUARE

After wards, was cannolis from Mike's Pastry and bubble tea from Boston Tea Stop at Harvard Square. We didn't get to do much more exploring since it was over 90 degrees outside.

I recommend Escape the Room Boston if you haven't tried it. Well, if you're into puzzles, brainteasers, and feeling a little bit like a ninja or Indiana Jones without being able to fight, jump, or being otherwise skilled. As the name implies, you are given a series of clues to find keys to escape the room you are in and have exactly 60 minutes. If we had an extra 5 or 10 minutes, we would have gotten it, but alas, we lost haha

BARRACUDA TAVERN

I highly recommend going to Barracuda Tavern on Sundays for their 50 cent oyster special. They're fresh and delicious! The appetizers weren't bad either (the cajun fries were my favorite).

Anyways, hoping summer goes by a little slower :O

tbt :: Pike's Peak and the Garden of the Gods

Around this time a couple years back, I was exploring Colorado during my internship in Boulder. A fellow intern and I decided to drive around a couple land marks and appreciate high views and red earth beauty.

Pike's Peak

The view was absolutely breathtaking - while trying not to freak out in the drive up the mountain with little or no railings. Though driving to the top of the mountain was far easier than hiking up the mountain, it almost wasn't as satisfying having not suffered for it. But it was beautiful none the less and it was a bit of a risk seeing as we were not sure if the car could handle that type of terrain. (Ah well, we survived ;D) I would recommend Pike's Peak to those who prefer driving as opposed to physically hiking.

A friend of mine said he going to Pike's Peak was on his bucket list for dirt biking. Not sure how feasible that is, but it gave me a different perspective how what I see as dangerous, some might see as a chance for an adrenaline rush.

Garden of the Gods

Besides working with clay, I didn't think much of red earth, but the Garden of the Gods changed my mind to that. It's quite beautiful in the sun light and how it is shaped tells  stories of the years before (or so the rangers were trying to describe). I also like how these are especially peaceful since they are a decent drive away from surrounding cities and towns. Coming from the North East, I don't get to see a lot of these type of nature-esk sights.  Very little human interruption in these parts of the western US and it's very refreshing.

Wayfering 007 :: July 4th in Providence

Besides the fact that the month of June seemed to have vanished into thin air, summer is going by far, far, far too quickly. every year I find it very unfair that the winters are long in such a cruel way while summer flies by. Mother Nature can be so mean sometimes. But anyways, I thought to spend my weekend with my cousin since she was stuck with work.

Providence Place, Rhode Island

And of course, it isn't summer unless there's sun, sand, and sea :D

Just about 45 minutes south of Providence are a few beautiful - and as predicted on a holiday - completely crowded beaches. We considered ourselves lucky to even get a parking spot with how packed the beaches were.

Scarborough State Beach, Rhode Island

Sun bathing, swimming, and feeling the ocean breeze. It was glorious. Did I mention that the waves were practically perfect? I mean look at them.

Though we got our food to go, this view during lunch is equally as beautiful even if you're not in the water. (I recommend getting clam bellies, not the strips.)

There was also some shopping and the typical girl thing to do of getting pedicures, but we were too busy vacationing to take many pictures. I highly recommend Top Nails and Spa in Warrick, RI. Pedicures include hot stone messages and back rubs while your nails dry. Literally the most relaxing pedicure I've gotten in my life. (Highly, highly recommend.)

Since graduating, I've been a little stuck at home until my career becomes more solid. Yes, I was able to relax at home and recover from the burn out of graduate school, but there's a difference in relaxing in a place that is not home. I didn't realize how much I needed a little mini-vacation until I had one. To be away from home and familiar surroundings and immerse myself into a place that's not completely foreign, but just different enough to give a breath of fresh air.
